TKK Sues Tropical Shipping in Virgin Islands for Antitrust Violations

VIRGIN ISLANDS, April 30, 2015

On April 29, 2015, Tomasik Kotin Kasserman, LLC, along with co-counsel Colianni & Colianni, filed a lawsuit under Section 2 of the Sherman Antitrust Act and The Virgin Islands Antitrust Act against Tropical Shipping, Inc. and VI Cargo Services, LLC in the St. Croix Division of the District Court of the Virgin Islands.

For years, Tropical Shipping has been using anticompetitive tactics to acquire a monopoly of the less than a container shipping market for goods being shipped from the Virgin Islands to Florida. At times, Tropical Shipping sales accounted for 100% percent of the less than a container shipping market. By charging anti-competitively high prices for the consolidation and shipment of goods between Florida and St. Croix, Tropical Shipping has harmed individual consumers and companies alike.
