Tim Tomasik to Participate in ABOTA Program on Preservation of the Rule of Law
March 16, 2022
On May 13, 2022, the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) will be holding an event in which multiple speakers will discuss the rule of law in the United States. The program will examine the history of the rule of law, the impact it had on the framers of the U.S. Constitution, its role in current affairs, and the risks it currently faces of being diminished. The goal of the event is to provide a dialogue on effective measures and practical steps that can be taken to ensure that ABOTA and its members can remain committed to the rule of law.
At the event, Attorney Timothy Tomasik, the national board representative of the Illinois chapter of ABOTA, will be introducing Senator Dick Durbin, who will speak on the January 6 attack on Congress and how it may affect the survival of democracy in the United States. Other speakers will discuss topics such as the role of the legal profession and trial judges in sustaining the rule of law, teaching constitutional government to U.S. citizens, and limits on executive power.
The ABOTA program on preservation of the rule of law will take place at the Four Seasons Hotel in Chicago, and it will be open to ABOTA members and non-members. To register for the event, please visit ABOTA's website.
