Tomasik Kotin Kasserman, LLC Secures Jury Verdict in Broward County, Florida

February 25, 2025

In August of 2021, Herron Fields was at a Fort Lauderdale nightclub with friends. After being escorted outside for bumping into another group of patrons, he was violently struck in the head by a nightclub security guard who was 100 pounds heavier than Herron. As a result of the near-fatal blow, Herron suffered severe traumatic brain injuries, which led to him having to undergo two craniotomies. He was left with lifelong permanent deficits.

Tomasik Kotin Kasserman, LLC attorneys Tim Tomasik, Loren Legorreta, and Elaina Stevens tried Herron's case in Broward County, Florida before the Honorable Judge Mark Speiser. The defendant's attorneys argued that Herron was intoxicated and that he was the aggressor, claiming that the security guard was acting in self-defense.

On February 21, 2025, a jury of five women and one man returned a verdict of $6,985,469.27.

"Our TKK trial team was fiercely committed to bringing justice to Herron. He was viciously and needlessly harmed. We are very proud of winning this no-offer case," said Tim Tomasik.

Loren Legorreta remarked, "At every turn of the trial, we stood ready to provide this vigilant jury with the proper tools they needed to reach the right verdict – and this result was just as much a testament to our team's preparation and hard work to protect Herron's future as it was the jurors."

On February 25, 2025, Judge Speiser entered the Final Judgment Order. Herron is extremely grateful for the dedication and hard work of Tomasik Kotin Kasserman, LLC's attorneys and staff.
