Tim Tomasik Inducted into Fellows of American Bar Foundation

Global Honorary Society Recognizes Founding Member of Tomasik Kotin Kasserman

The Chicago law firm of Tomasik Kotin Kasserman is excited to announce that founding attorney Timothy S. Tomasik has accepted an invitation to join the Fellows of the American Bar Foundation.

The Fellows is a global honorary society of attorneys, judges, law faculty, and legal scholars. The Board of the ABF elects the members from peer recommendations based on the nominee’s professional achievements and dedication to community welfare. Membership is limited to one percent of lawyers licensed to practice in each jurisdiction.

“I am honored and humbled to become a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation and join a group of like-minded individuals who are dedicated to the advancement of the legal profession,” Tomasik said.

As a Fellow, Tomasik will contribute to the ABF’s research program and network with other legal professionals at educational and social events. The ABF conducts and publishes research projects on relevant legal topics in order to improve the understanding of law and its impact on society.

Chicago lawyer Timothy Tomasik has distinguished himself as an elite trial attorney during his 28 years of practice. He has successfully resolved hundreds of millions of dollars in claims in areas such as complex premises liability, aviation litigation, medical negligence, medical liability, hospital liability, and mass disasters.

Recent successful cases include:

  • A $25.9 million verdict for a client injured in a Yellow Cab taxi crash, which was the largest verdict in Illinois and 25th largest verdict in the nation for 2015;
  • A $7.5 million verdict for the family of a City of Chicago worker killed due to truck negligence;
  • A $7 million award for a medical malpractice case in which a woman suffered permanent digestive injuries after botched abdominal surgery;
  • A $3.02 million settlement for a 9-year-old victim in a sexual assault case; and
  • A $1.357 million verdict in a medical malpractice case for the family of a baby boy who was the victim of a botched circumcision.

Tomasik recently became a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. He is the president-elect of the Illinois chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates and a member of the Board of Governors of the International Society of Barristers. He has been a member of numerous American Bar Association committees and recognized by Super Lawyers and Leading Lawyers as an outstanding attorney.

Away from work, Tomasik is a past board member of the Western Springs Foundation for Educational Excellence and supporter of the Public Justice Foundation. He has served as Board Chair of Lawyers Lend-A-Hand, a foundation which provides grants to mentor programs dedicated to serving Chicago’s underprivileged youth.
