TKK Joins Fight for Children Harmed by WanaBana Applesauce Lead Poisoning Outbreak
Tomasik Kotin Kasserman, LLC co-founder and partner Tim Tomasik is seeking justice for those injured by high levels of lead in children's applesauce pouches.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently discovered that WanaBana, Schnucks, and Weis brand applesauce pouches contained extremely high levels of lead, with the WanaBana brand having approximately 200 times the acceptable level, measuring at 21.8 parts per million. Multiple states have reported potential cases to the FDA of high blood lead levels (BLLs) in children consuming recalled cinnamon-containing applesauce products.
As of November 16, 2023, there have been 34 reports of illness potentially linked to recalled product submitted to FDA. The number of victims is likely to grow as additional consumers seek testing.
TKK has joined this litigation to ensure that steps are taken to enhance food safety in the United States and prevent such an outbreak from happening again. To schedule a free consultation, contact us at 312-605-8800.
