Tomasik Kotin Kasserman, LLC Secures $5,850,000.00 for Brain Injury Victim

Recently, Tim Tomasik and Eddie Hettel obtained a $5,850,000.00 settlement on behalf of a 17-year-old woman who suffered a traumatic brain injury in an automobile crash.

The Plaintiff was a front seat passenger in a Jeep driven by Defendant 1 that was struck in a high impact collision by a sport SUV driven by Defendant 2 at a cross street of 47th Street in Lyons Township, Illinois. Defendant 1 was attempting a left turn from a stop sign onto eastbound 47th Street when the vehicle was T-boned at a high rate of speed by Defendant 2, who was traveling westbound on 47th Street.

As a result of this terrible accident, plaintiff suffered a traumatic brain injury with diffuse axonal shearing that required an inpatient hospital admission and follow-up appointments for rehabilitation and cognitive therapy. While substantial cognitive function has returned, she continues to suffer deficits with attention, processing speed, fatigue, and focus.

Tomasik Kotin Kasserman partner, Tim Tomasik said, “Appearances are misleading. Like so many victims of traumatic brain injury, she looks like a normal college student. She will tell you ‘I look the same but I feel like someone else.’ She suffers from difficulty with attention, focus, memory, and concentration. Sadly, she will be dealing with these challenges for the rest of her life.” He emphasized “It was an honor to obtain the justice she deserves.”
