Woman Contracted Samonella from Tinley Park Jewel Deli
CHICAGO, December 31, 2014 /NBC Chicago/
Janet Dominik attorney's, Tomasik Kotin Kasserman, LLC, filed suit Tuesday in Cook County Circuit Court in which states the deli meat purchased from a Tinley Park Jewel Osco last May led her to contracting Salmonella.
At least 15 other people contracted salmonella after eating food purchased at the deli from the Jewel at 171st and Harlem. Dominik’s is at least the second lawsuit filed against Jewel over the outbreak.
The suit claims the Cook County Health Department was notified on June 14 about a salmonella outbreak linked to the store’s deli. The store temporarily closed the deli that same day, according to the suit.
The two-count suit alleges negligence and product liability and seeks an undisclosed amount in damages.
