Chicago Uber Driver Charged With Sexually Assaulting Passenger

August 24, 2022

Recently, an Uber driver who had been working in the Chicago area was charged with the sexual assault of a passenger. On June 2, 2022, the driver was transporting a young woman who lost consciousness, and he allegedly zip-tied her wrists and fondled and sexually assaulted her. The driver has been charged with aggravated criminal sexual assault, kidnapping, and unlawful restraint, and a judge ordered him to pay $250,000 bail. Following the incident, the driver has been banned from providing rides to passengers through the Uber app.

This is just the latest instance of a passenger being harmed by a dangerous rideshare driver. At Tomasik Kotin Kasserman, LLC, we have been aware of this issue for several years, and we can help sexual assault victims and others injured by Uber and Lyft drivers take legal action to address the negligence of rideshare companies. We work to ensure that injury victims can achieve justice and receive compensation for their damages, including representing a woman who was sexually assaulted by a Lyft driver in 2017.

If you have questions about how we can help you pursue compensation from Uber or Lyft for injuries caused by their drivers, please contact us at 312-605-8800 and schedule a free consultation.
