Chicago Uber Driver Charged With Sexually Assaulting Passenger
August 24, 2022
Recently, an Uber driver who had been working in the Chicago area was charged with the sexual assault of a passenger. On June 2, 2022, the driver was transporting a young woman who lost consciousness, and he allegedly zip-tied her wrists and fondled and sexually assaulted her. The driver has been charged with aggravated criminal sexual assault, kidnapping, and unlawful restraint, and a judge ordered him to pay $250,000 bail. Following the incident, the driver has been banned from providing rides to passengers through the Uber app.
This is just the latest instance of a passenger being harmed by a dangerous rideshare driver.
